You have developed your trade through years of hands-on work, often in many types of environments. You have an eye for assessing a problem quickly and determining the most efficient way to solve it. As a handyman, you will be called upon to perform carpentry, patch walls, fix windows/doors, maintain yards, clean storage rooms, paint, and more. Generally, you don’t perform intricate specialty work such as remodelling an entire kitchen, but you can be called upon to install some nifty new kitchen cabinet doors. At times, you might need to perform several jobs during one visit, such as install a shelf unit, assemble IKEA furniture, trim a door, etc. You must prioritize jobs according to urgency and allow time to view the work to be done, create an estimate, buy parts and supplies if necessary, and schedule appointments to finish each job.

You are like Robin is to Batman, or Apprentice to Jedi Knight. Essentially, you possess latent talent to become a Master Handyman yourself, but till that time, you are enthusiastic, capable and willing to learn the ropes before taking the reins. As an assistant helper, expect to help a Master Handyman complete work tasks. Most of the time, you work together, but sometimes, you must work on or complete small projects alone in order to service various clients more efficiently. Helping to lift things, brace items, be an extra pair of eyes for surface levelling or picture hanging, you are up to give a hand with anything and everything. You should be punctual, and posses a strong pride for completing each assigned task with professional grade workmanship.

Requirements

• You are familiar working with a diverse set of tools.
• You worked on various DIY projects at home or for friends in the past. This can be on cars, houses, backyards, and anything else that requires a hands-on approach.
• Have a friendly and enthusiastic approach in conversing with clients and the general public.
• Have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised.
• Are enthusiast and have a positive outlook on life.
• Pays strong attention to details.
• Must be able to climb ladders, crawl into tight spaces, bend down, kneel for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects.

• A trade qualification is not essential. What is essential is a keen and genuine interest in handyman and maintenance work with the ability to apply existing skills to required tasks, and to possess an open mind allowing you to constantly learn about new products, skills, and techniques. As our Media Guru, your knowledge spans a universe of web, photography, animation, graphic design, photo manipulation, social media (Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Google, etc), writing, forum/web commenting/posting, and more. At times, you will collect project-progress-photos taken by various Handyman teams, and when needed, personally take photos of projects that are 100% complete. For each project, you will prepare the photos, write a catchy/creative web comment about the project, and then post it on our website. After each post is made, you would then highlight them on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. When not working on posts, you will work alongside our founder and graphic designer to edit and create Handyman videos for a new Handyman channel on YouTube. Essentially, you, along with the founder, are the persona of HandymanAndDesigns.com Online. Together, you must find a way to take the team and brand to an entirely new level of excellence.

Requirements

To be successful, a Media Guru should have experience in most or all of the following areas:

• Experience using Adobe After Effect, Adobe Premier, or equivalent.
• Experience with a 3d software package such as Blender, 3d max, Maya or similar.
• Experience with creating eye catching designs for web pages, especially for WordPress.
• Excellent at creative writing.
• Possess Zero ego. You are able to take creative critiques from the founder and/or graphic designer and adjust images according to specific needs.
• A background in Illustration, Animation, or Graphic design.
• Possess a notebook computer for mobile work when needed.
• Possess an online portfolio, or bring various samples of your work as we discuss your possibilities with us.
• Must be a pleasure to work with.
